Sulfur in Oil Analysis
Analysis of sulfur in oil and petroleum products, such as gasoline, diesel fuel, motor and transmission oils, is one of the most important tasks. Sulfur forms sulfites in car exhausts, which pollute the environment. The maximum permissible level of sulfur in fuel is reduced yearly. The Directive 2003/17/EC (or EURO VI) requires that the sulfur content of the fuel does not exceed 10 ppm.
XRF analysis is one of the most effective methods to solve this problem. The application is regulated by international standards such as ASTM D4294, ISO 20847, IP 496. Elvatech supplies X-ray fluorescence analyzers that can quickly and accurately analyze oil products for sulfur in oil over a wide range concentrations (from 2 ppm to 5%).
