fixed vane type
is normally used for medium and small power plant and water head, with relatively small change. Features: simple structure. When deviating from the designed operation conditions, there will be drastic downgrade of effect.

Kaplan type
is mainly used for big and medium plants, water head, power plant with relatively big change. Features: Wide range of high efficiency area as coordinated control of vane and guide vane is achieved; it has relatively complex
structure as it requires control mechanism of runner vane.
