Distilled coconut fatty acid is obtained by splitting and then vacuum distillation of coconut oil or palm kernel oil. The product has a melting point around 21 º C -26 º C. And it’s opaque white and with a pungent smell. It is characterized by the presence of caprylic acid (up to 9%) and rich content of lauric acid (up to 56%).

Distilled coconut fatty acid is widely used in the cosmetic industry (soaps, bath products, personal care, and household and industrial cleaning products). It acts as a surfactant, cleansing agent, emulsifier, and foam booster. It’s easy to formulate and mix with other fatty substances. DCFA and its esters are also used in the manufacture of intermediates for textile finishing, leather finishing, finishing fibers, lubricants, and metalworking fluids.
