The construction of an acrylic LGP typically involves a flat, transparent acrylic sheet with a series of precisely engineered patterns, such as lines, dots, or microstructures, on one or both surfaces. These patterns serve as light extraction elements that redirect and scatter the light passing through the panel, allowing it to distribute evenly across the surface.
When light enters the LGP from the edge, it undergoes multiple internal reflections due to the principles of total internal reflection. The light bounces off the patterned surfaces within the panel until it reaches the desired output area, where it appears as uniform and diffused illumination.
