Different types of Alxe
Usually, a car has two basic types of axles. One type is called a dead axle, which exists in cars to withstand weight and does not rotate with the wheels. The other is a movable shaft that is connected to the wheel and pushes it. The constant velocity universal joint connects the wheel and the movable shaft, so that the shaft can smoothly transmit power to the wheel.
In addition to dividing the axles into active or dead axles, they can also be classified into other categories, such as front axle, rear axle, or short axle.
--Front axle
As the name suggests, the front axle is located at the front of the car. The function of the front axle is to support steering and handle impacts caused by road bumps. The front axle may be live or powered off. The active front axle can perform the work of turning the wheels as described above.
--Rear axle
The rear axle is located at the rear of the vehicle. Most rear axles are electrically charged, which means they are responsible for transmitting power to the drive wheels. The drive shaft is connected to the engine and rotates the rear axle, thereby turning the wheels of the car.
--Short axis
The short axle in rear wheel drive cars is connected to both ends of the front axle through a kingpin. According to the arrangement of the short shaft and its sub components, the short shaft can be divided into four types:
·Elliot: This type uses a yoke, kingpin, and cotter pin to connect to the front axle.
·Reverse Elliot: This short axis is arranged in reverse with Elliot's short axis.
·Lamoine: In Lamoine short shafts, L-shaped mandrels and kingpins are used instead of yokes.
·Ramoin reverse: The reverse arrangement of the Ramoin short axis.
