MFE 711 Vinyl Ester Resin
Vinyl ester resin is a type of modified epoxy resin obtained by the reaction of bisphenol-type or phenol-formaldehyde-type epoxy resin with methacrylic acid, commonly referred to as vinyl ester resin (VE). It is a thermosetting resin. Vinyl ester resin inherits the excellent characteristics of epoxy resin, with outstanding curing and molding properties. It can dissolve in styrene and acrylic monomers. Due to its combination of epoxy and unsaturation, its application field is continuously expanding .

- Easier workability, good air drying.
- Shorter gel-to-cure interval, reduced stress cracking,
- The resin’s improved reactivity properties often permit an increase in the lay-up thickness per session.
- Higher elongation provides FRP equipment with increased toughness
- Lighter color makes defects easier to see and correct while the resin is still workable.
- Longer shelf life provides additional flexibility to fabricators in storage and handling.
Applications and Fabrication Techniques
- FRP storage tanks, vessels, ducts, and on-site maintenance projects: Ideal for use in chemical processing and pulp and paper operations, these components are crafted for durability and efficiency
- Resin designed for versatile fabrication methods: This resin is engineered for easy use with various techniques including hand lay-up, spray-up, filament winding, compression molding, resin transfer molding, pultrusion, and molded grating applications.
- Compliance with FDA regulations: When properly formulated and cured, the resin meets FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.2420, making it safe for repeated use in contact with food.
Vinyl ester resin offers excellent overall performance, boasting favorable molding characteristics and mechanical properties. Resistant to a wide range of acids, alkalis, and salt solutions below 100°C, it finds primary application in the production of corrosion-resistant FRP items, glass flake coatings and mastics, and food-grade uses.
Key Applications:
- Manufacturing of corrosion-resistant FRP products like fiberglass-reinforced plastic tanks, pipelines, towers, and gratings.
- Corrosion protection engineering, including cement-based or iron-based glass fiber-reinforced plastic linings, high-corrosion-resistant flooring, and robust FRP products such as fiberglass profiles, sports gear, and boats.
- Utilization in heavy-duty anti-corrosion glass flake coatings and mastics.
- Additional uses encompass UV inks, industrial-grade flooring, etc.
- Application in desulfurization corrosion protection within power plants, boasting resilience to high temperatures and potent acids and alkalis.
- Ideal for crafting chemical workshop workbenches that endure acidic, alkaline, and high-temperature conditions.
