Spiral-bevel gears are smoother and quieter in operation than straight-bevel gears, primarily due to a design that incorporates two or more contacting teeth. Their design however results in high tooth pressure.

• Bevel Gear is a cone-shaped gear which transmits power between 2 intersecting axels. .
• Bevel gears can be generally classified by their manufacturing methods namely the Gleason method and Klingelnberg method which each have differing teeth shapes, and presently most gears use the Gleason method. Incidentally all gears manufactured by KHK use the Gleason method.
• bevel gears are similar to helical gears with angled teeth allowing incremental interlock between gears, resulting in quieter operation. Spiral bevel gears with teeth angled are 0° are known as zerol bevel gears.
