INTRODUCTION OF YOKOHAMA FENDER
Yokohama Fenders is widely used in seaports. Large seagoing vessels use generally no fenders themselves for the mooring in the port. The exception is, for instance, when a bunker boat comes alongside, or when tankers are berthing at sea alongside each other to take over loads. In these situations, pneumatic fenders are often used.
When mooring under rough weather conditions, a ship is subjected to wave action, especially to swell, causing the ship to be moved up and down, back and forth and left to right at the quay. Pneumatic Yokohama fenders allow gentle initial contact with a gradual increase of reaction force and large allowable deflection, meaning ships and mooring facilities are protected even under rough weather conditions. In light of these advantages, quite a few deep-water ports and large open-sea loading facilities employ
Yokohama fenders.
Safety Valve
Pneumatic Yokohama fenders of diameter 2500mm and larger sizes shall be equipped with a safety valve for releasing excess internal pressure when the fenders are over-compressed accidentally. Fender which is smaller than 2500mm in diameter can also be equipped with a safety valve if requested.
