What's The Sagger?
Saggar is a kiln tool. Initially, in the process of firing porcelain, in order to prevent gas and harmful substances from damaging and defacing the body and glaze, porcelain and blank bodies are placed in containers made of refractory materials for roasting, which is the saggar. It is made of refractory mud of various specifications of the round bowl or cuboid, by high temperature roasting. All kinds of porcelain billets must be first loaded into the saggar, and then into the kiln for roasting. The use of saggar firing ceramics, not only can improve the number of loading, products will not bond, improve the yield, and the saggar also has a certain thermal conductivity and thermal stability, can ensure the quality of ceramics.
Corundum-mullite sagger products have the characteristics of high temperature resistance, good thermal shock stability, small expansion coefficient, anti-flaking and good powdering resistance. It is widely used in powder material industries such as electronic components, magnetic materials and various ceramic powder sintering.
Refractory materials of industrial saggar are mullite, corundum mullite, alumina and so on.

The saggar system consists of a box wall (also known as a box ring) and a box bottom.
The process of making the wall of the box is roughly as follows: first take a number of specially made bamboo pieces, pass them through with a string along the thickness direction of the bamboo pieces, and then put them upright, and close the two ends to form a ring cylinder, the inside is fixed with an iron circle, and the outside is tied with a rope. Then apply the box mud to the outer wall of the cylinder, and when it reaches a certain thickness, smooth the outer side with a cloth dipped in water, and then trim it with an iron sheet. After finishing, remove the iron ring on the inner side of the ring, remove the ring from the inner side, and then smooth the inner wall and shape. When the wall is finished, move it to another place to let it dry. The process of making the bottom of the stem is roughly as follows: first take a special iron ring with a diameter equal to or slightly larger than the outer diameter of the box wall, put the box mud into the ring, and step on the box mud with your feet to make the box mud evenly fill all parts of the ring. Then put a ball of box mud in the center and pat it tightly. After the box bottom is made, let it dry slightly. When the wall and bottom of the box are properly dry, dip the edge of the wall into the box pulp, and sit it on the bottom of the box, and then trim the adhesive area flat.
The saggar system consists of straight and inclined walls.
The method of making straight walls is much the same as that of making small box walls. The method of making the inclined wall is similar to that of drawing porcelain billet, but because the box mud particles are coarse, water must be carried out during fine repair and shaping. After the straight wall and the inclined wall are made, they are bonded to each other with box paste. The bonding method is basically the same as that of the saggar.

Application in non-ferrous metal smelting industry
Silicon carbide is used as a high-temperature indirect heating material with high strength, good thermal conductivity, and impact resistance, such as a solid-fill distillation furnace. Distillation furnace trays, aluminum electrolytic cells, copper melting furnace linings, arc plates for zinc powder furnaces, thermocouple protection tubes, etc.

Utilize the corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance and wear resistance of silicon carbide. It has good thermal conductivity and can be used for lining large blast furnaces to extend its service life.

Application in metallurgical mineral processing industry
The hardness of silicon carbide is second only to diamond, and it has strong wear resistance. It is an ideal material for wear-resistant pipes, impellers, pump chambers, cyclones, and hopper linings. The most wear-resistant property is cast iron, and the service life of rubber is 5 -20 times, it is also one of the ideal materials for aviation runways.

Applications in construction ceramics and grinding wheel industry
Take advantage of its thermal conductivity. Thermal radiation, high thermal intensity, manufacturing thin plate kiln furniture can not only reduce the capacity of the kiln furniture, but also improve the filling capacity of the kiln and product quality, shorten the production cycle, and is an ideal indirect material for ceramic glaze baking and sintering.

Applications in energy saving
Utilizing good thermal conductivity and thermal stability as a heat exchanger, fuel consumption can be reduced by 20%, fuel can be saved by 35%, and productivity can be increased by 20-30%. In particular, the wear resistance of the discharge pipelines used in mine dressing plants is 6-7 times that of ordinary wear-resistant materials.
