The Immunogenicity：
The N-terminus and C-terminus of type I collagen α chain do not contain G-X-Y repeating units, thus failing to form a triple-helix structure and presenting a loosely folded conformation. It is called telopeptide.
The immunogenicity of collagen mainly originated from non-helical telopeptide. By removing the telopeptide via enzyme extraction, the immunogenicity will be reduced.
