- SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) modifies the asphalt by forming a polymer network within the bitumen. SBS gives the bitumen rubber-like characteristics and improved resistance to aging and weathering. Most SBS modified bitumen sheets are either set in hot mopping asphalt, torch-applied, or adhered with cold-process adhesives. SBS modified bitumen sheets that do not have factory applied granule or foil surfacing need some form of field-applied ultraviolet protective coating.
- SBS Membranes (Self adhesive membranes)
- SBS Membranes are widely used in the basement for their superior quality and self healing property. It is comparatively expensive membrane compared to APP membrane. These products consist of blend of distilled bitumen modified with SBS elastomeric thermoplastic polymers and selected fillers.
- Good water impermeability and excellent self healing property
- Strong tensile strength, big elongation rate, Dimension stability on shrinkage, deformation and strong ability to adapt cracking
- Low temperature resistance performance is good. SBS was applied to the low temperature environmental building waterproof.
- Puncture resistance, breaking resistance, tear resistance, corrosion resistance, and mildew and weathering resistance properties.
- Convenient construction, hot melt construction of round operation, reliable joints.

- Basic requirements: The substratum should be smooth, clean, dry (Moisture<9%), then apply the surface of stratum evenly with bitumen oil, and application is allowed till dry.
- Heating and melting method: Use flame gun or other tool to heat evenly in the bottom layer of membrane , when the bitumen begins to melt and presents to be black and light, roast and pave and paste the membrane.
- Checking and acceptance: a thorough inspection is required after application to insure there is no air bubble, no falling away and etc. to guarantee the waterproof life
- Place the membrane vertically.
- Packed with strong wood pallet and covered by shrink film in case of slant.
- Keep away from fire during storage and transportation.
- Membranes should be stored under dry and ventilated conditions in order to keep away from sunlight and raining.
