Nature and structure of vermiculite

Vermiculite is a kind of layered structure of hydroaluminosilicate secondary metamorphic mineral, the original ore is like mica,
usually by black (gold) mica through hydrothermal alteration or weathering, due to its heat loss when the expansion of flexural
shape, shape like a leech, so called vermiculite.

The chemical formula of vermiculite is M G × (H2O)[Mg3 × (AlSiO3O10)(H2O)]

Vermiculite is divided into vermiculite and expansive vermiculite by stages, and can be divided into golden vermiculite,
silver-white vermiculite and opalescent vermiculite according to color classification.

The volume of vermiculite can expand rapidly by 8-20 times after high temperature roasting, and the specific gravity after expansion is 130-180kg/m3, which has a strong thermal insulation performance.

Exfoliated Vermiculite
