Production Process
Carbon steel plates are divided into cold-rolled carbon steel plates and hot-rolled carbon steel plates according to the production process.
1 . The production process of hot-rolled mild steel plate is to use a rolling mill to roll the steel billet at high temperature. The production process includes: first heating the steel billet, followed by rolling, cooling and grinding. Hot-rolled carbon steel is steel that has been rolled at temperatures exceeding 1,700 degrees. It starts with a large rectangular piece of metal, called a billet. The billets are heated and then sent to prepro cessing where they are flattened into large rolls. From there, it is kept at high temperatures and passed through a series of rollers to reach its final size. Steel shrinks slightly as it cools. Because hot-rolled steel is cooled after processing, there is less control over its final shape, making it less suitable for precision applications. Hot rolled steel is commonly used in ships, bridges, pressure vessels, construction, etc.
2. Cold-rolled steel plate is a plate obtained by rolling a slab using a rolling mill. The production process includes: first heating the steel billet to a moderate temperature, and then rolling and stretching it. Cold plates have high surface precision, high hardness, and good corrosion resistance. They are usually used to manufacture containers, pipes, etc.
