Until now, many welders do not know how
dangerous laser radiation
is.
Some still wear old-fashioned welding helmets to work, day in and day out. Still, others don't even use any kind of laser protective equipment when operating.
Lasers used for welding applications radiate in infrared spectra, the intensive fiber laser light radiate in the visible spectrum but is invisible to humans and is especially dangerous to the eye and face. Fiber laser radiation penetrates through the retina, which can be destroyed irrevocably by relatively little radiation.
Other hazards include skin burns or inflammation from combustible materials as a result of misdirected laser radiation. Misdirected radiation and reflections must be blocked off.

Although it looks similar to conventional manual arc welding designs, using this helmet will reduce the amount of laser energy transmitted to a safe level in the event that there is either a directhit or a high level of reflection from the laser welding process.

The laser-safety helmet and protective lenses for filtering out the fiber laser, YAG laser, brilliant light, and UV rays created by the welding arc are the most important equipment a welder daily uses. All the laser welders or laser machine operators should wear protective goggles and helmets that are appropriate for the laser radiation being used.
