This instrument is a test instrument for measuring the maximum dry density of non-viscous free-draining granular soil and giant granular soil (including rockfill) by using surface vibration compaction method.
For the determination of dry density of non-viscous free drainage soil, the curve-type test curve of compaction test method is multi-peak or no significant peak, which indicates that this method is not the most suitable test method for this kind of soil. Moreover, the "dry density" determined by compaction method is often lower than the result of vibration compaction test. British standard BS1377 and Swedish SS027109 both stipulate the use of surface vibration compactor method for high permeability soil. Combined with the experimental research of Highway Science Research Institute of Ministry of Communications, JTGE40-2007, the industry standard of Ministry of Communications of China, has added this method and shaking table method as the basic test method for the determination of the maximum dry density of non-viscous coarse-grained soil. The surface vibrator method is similar to the vibratory rolling method, and the operation is simple, and the sample does not separate at the real time of vibratory pressure. The shaking table method is complicated to operate, and the sample is easy to separate during the process of vibration compaction, so JTGE40-2007 recommends the surface vibration compaction instrument method as a priority, and this method can also be used for coarse-grained soil triaxial test, penetration test, concrete material test and base material test.
Surface vibration compactor test procedure
1, install the appropriate test cylinder pressure test cylinder to take the appropriate amount of soil sample, with the specified tools into the test body, roughly scrape the surface of the sample.
2. Ensure that the three-phase power cable is properly connected and the power indicator on the controller panel is on.
3, press the controller on the "rise", "stop", "down" button, vibration motor and weight parts move freely.
4, when the lift switch, the vibrator instead down or press the drop switch, the vibrator instead up, should pour the power cord. Otherwise the up and down stroke switch will not work, easy to damage the machine.
5, press the "down" button, the large sliding sleeve drive the vibration plate and tamping plate down, when the tamping plate contact the loose soil sample, the large sliding sleeve will continue to fall, down to the lower end face of the large sliding sleeve, 15-25mm from the vibration plate flange press the "stop" button, the large sliding sleeve stop falling.
6, set the timer on the controller, set the time to 6 minutes (that is, the black pull switch is in the middle position, the digit of the finger disk is 060).
7, press the "vibration" switch, the vibration begins to vibrate, the timer shows the vibration time, and the moving plate automatically stops after 6 minutes.
8, press the "rise" button, the set drives the vibration plate, the tamping plate rises, rises to the limit block on the end face of the speed box below 15-25mm, press the "stop" button, the big slide stop rising.
9. Add a second soil sample according to the test procedures, repeat the above steps two times, and a sample is considered to be vibratory compaction completed.
10. Remove the test cylinder, use a straight steel ruler, place it in the diameter position of the test cylinder, and then weigh the measured data according to the regulations.
