Graphene oxide is obtained by oxidation of graphite. At a lower oxidation degree, it contains "graphite oxide phase" and "graphite phase". With the increase ofoxidation degree, the content of "graphite phase" gradually decreases until disappears. The content of "graphite oxide phase" gradually increases, and the layerspacing gradually increases. 

 It is rich in oxygen-containing functional groups such as carboxyl group, hydroxyl group and epoxy group. Water molecules are introduced by hydrogenbonding in the interlayer domain. Due to the orderly arrangement of oxygen-containing functional groups and water molecules, graphite oxide has good order inthe axial direction.
