Upon stimulamyocardial hypoxia, ischemia, etc.), a type B natriuretic peptide tion of cardiomyocytes mechanical ventricular traction, precursor (pre-proBNP) containing 134 amino acids is produced, followed by the formation of a BNP precursor (proBNP) containing 108 amino acids, which is cleaved by activating enzymes into NT-proBNP containing 76 amino acids and BNP of 32 amino acids. BNP is mainly used as an aid in the diagnosis of heart failure.
