The corrosion resistance of Ni-Cu alloy 400 is good under the condition of reducing medium, but the aeration and oxidizing chemicals are unfavorable to its corrosion resistance. Alloy 400 has very good resistance to halogen acid and halide corrosion properties, especially resistance to fluorine or hydrogen fluoride high temperature gas.
This alloy is widely used to treat sulfuric acid solutions, seawater and brine. For applications requiring high strength, such as valves and pump components, the alloy K-500(NO5500) is often used, which is a precipitation-hardened derivative of alloy 400.
