Products Description
Japanese cypress/Hinoki
Cypress is Japan's national tree, and is a valuable tree that has been used in the construction of shrines and temples since ancient times.
Cypress wood has excellent durability and antiseptic properties, and old buildings such as Horyuji Temple and Shosoin Temple are made from cypress wood. Cypress wood also has the property of becoming hard when soaked in water.
Hinoki is also used for afforestation and afforestation, and makes up about 10% of Japan's forests. However, natural cypress is on the decline, and its value as a material is increasing.

What is cypress?
Hinoki is a coniferous tree that represents Japan, and accounts for a large proportion of the coniferous trees planted in Japan. Although it is rarer than Japanese cedar, it can be said to be a coniferous tree that is familiar to Japanese people just like Japanese cedar. It may be a common tree in Japan, but it is said that it is actually only distributed in limited areas around the world, such as Japan and Taiwan. It is said to be the highest quality material for wooden buildings, and the fact that it was used in Horyuji Temple, a World Heritage Site, shows that it is a material suitable for construction.
Characteristics of cypress
1、Feels good to the touch and looks good
2、Highly durable
3、Has sterilizing, antibacterial and insect repellent effects
4、Smells good and has a relaxing effect
Cypress is often used for pillars and structural materials. As I mentioned above, cypress has a good fragrance and beautiful grain, and these are the reasons why cypress is used for things like pillars. It also has excellent durability and heat resistance, which not only increases the strength of buildings, but also prevents termites due to the hinokiol component, making it a valuable wood. Although it may be more expensive than other types of wood, it can help make homes and buildings last longer, so costs may be lower.
