Products Description
Born Mirror II
Since this paint is highly reflective, and its color develops well, it allows you to easily apply a finish that resembles metal plating.
It is easier to use than the older product version, as it has been designed to prevent spots and specks. Even when multiple coats are applied, it maintains its mirror-like surface without blurring.
★Refer to the coating flowchart and how-to video for more on applying plating-look paint.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use. It cannot be diluted. Be sure to apply a topcoat from the Low Erosion series, since the coating may become discolored from oxidation, and the plating look may rub off from contact. Do not leave the lid open, as the paint is sensitive to humidity. Apply it after the primer has completely dried.

Frequently Asked Questions
If I make a mistake while applying the plating-look paint, what should I do?
If you make a mistake while applying it, you will need to remove the paint using a paint remover for scale models and restart the application process from scratch after the parts have dried completely.
The paint inside the container has a blackish color. Is this a defective product?
It is not a defective product. Born Mirror paint itself is the color of rust.
Before applying the topcoat, the plating look did not come out well.
①Was the surface of the primer glossy and reflective?
②Was enough time (at least 24 hours for the primer) given for drying?
Confirm the above points. If there were no issues with the above, there could have been a different cause.
If you reach out to us through “CONTACT” or our official X account, we will provide a response.
Before applying the topcoat, the plating look has darkened.
If you apply a heavy amount of paint from the PLATING-LOOK series all at once, it may darken.
Try applying multiple thin coats on top of each other, as if you are sandblasting.
Before applying the topcoat, fingerprints have been made.
The situation cannot be recovered, and the fingerprints will still show up even if you apply another coat on top.
You would need to restart the application process from scratch.
Be careful not to touch the surface until everything has been completed when applying plating-look paint.
When I applied a topcoat, the plating look became blurry.
Since the PLATING-LOOK series features very delicate paint, it will blur when using a common topcoat.
Try applying a topcoat from the Low Erosion series.
When I applied Finish Clear, the plating look became blurry.
Try applying another coat of Finish Clear on top before it dries.
Although Finish Clear blurs after the first application, the plating look may come back when applying subsequent coats on top.
When I applied Finish Clear, the plating look has darkened.
There is a chance that you did not apply enough of the PLATING-LOOK series paint.
You may see improvement when applying multiple coats on top, even after the color of the PLATING-LOOK series paint has developed.
If I am not successful, can I recover the situation by applying another coat on top?
You cannot recover the situation for plating-look paint. If you make a mistake while, you will need to r
emove all of the paint using a paint remover for scale models
and restart the coat application process from scratch after the parts have dried completely.
I applied a surfacer underneath, but the color did not develop a plating look.
If you used a surfacer other than Born Surfacer, there is a chance that the color does not develop.
Since Born Surfacer retains gloss, it can be applied as a surfacer for plating-look paint.
Example: Born Surfacer → Under Black II → Plating-look paint → Finish Clear
Would it be possible to go without applying a topcoat?
Generally speaking, a topcoat is necessary. However, since a common topcoat will damage the plating look,
we recommend using a topcoat from the Low Erosion series that has been designed specifically for plating-look paint.
If you do not apply a topcoat, the plating look could be wiped off.
Can I apply masking tape?
Masking tape cannot be applied because it will remove the plating-look layer.
However, if you apply a coat of Finish Clear with Finish Clear Strengthening Agent added, you can apply masking tape.
It looked nice right after the topcoat was applied, but black patches and spots appeared with time.
This could happen if you applied Born Mirror or Finish Clear while the primer had not dried completely.
You may see improvement if you are mindful of allowing enough time for drying during every step of the process.
Also, even adding a small amount of Finish Clear Exclusive Thinner Liquid to the Finish Clear topcoat
will prevent the appearance of patches, so by all means, give it a try.
It looked nice after the coat was applied, but developed into a brownish color while drying for a day.
Although Born Mirror does naturally have a slightly yellowish color, it may develop into a brownish color while drying because it absorbs the humidity,
such as when it is humid during the summer. Be careful with the humidity while applying a coat or drying.
