Deluge alarm valve is a type of valve used in fire protection systems. It is designed to control the flow of water in a deluge system and activate an alarm when the system is triggered.
In a deluge system, all sprinkler heads are open, and water is continuously supplied to the piping network. When a fire is detected, such as by a smoke or heat detector, the deluge valve is opened electrically or pneumatically. This allows water to flow through all the sprinkler heads simultaneously, dousing the entire protected area with water.
The deluge alarm valve plays a crucial role in the system by monitoring the water pressure and controlling the alarm activation. It typically consists of a mechanical valve mechanism, an alarm trim, and a releasing trim. The valve is held closed by a latching mechanism, and when it receives a signal, it releases the latch and allows water to flow, activating the alarm system.
The purpose of the deluge alarm valve is to ensure that the alarm is triggered promptly when the deluge system is activated, alerting occupants and facilitating immediate response to a fire event.
