Catalytic converter is a device that converts harmful toxic emission gases from a vehicle into less harmful emission gases. The process is achieved either through oxidation or reduction. Catalytic converters can be used to treat exhaust gases o f both gasoline and diesel engines.
Three-way Catalytic Converters
A Three-way Catalytic Converters is used to treat the 3 main harmful gases coming out of exhaust such as the nitrogen oxides (NOX), Hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.
There are 2 different catalysts at work, one is the reduction catalyst, and the other is the oxidation catalyst. The reduction catalyst is made of platinum and rhodium, the oxidation catalyst is made of platinum and palladium.
The three-way catalyst (TWC) is made of cordierite honeycomb ceramics as a carrier, rare earth composite oxides as additives, and a small number of precious metals (PT/PD/RH) added and sintered after a special coating process. The product makes full use of the coordinated effects of precious metals and rare earth composite oxides. The carbon monoxide CO, hydrocarbons HC, and nitrogen oxides NOX in the exhaust gas undergo oxidation/reduction, thereby converting them into non-toxic carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen. According to the different standards of the carrier required by the vehicle, the quality of the carrier is also different. It can be divided into Euro 1 (white carrier, which does not have any exhaust filtering function, but only serves as a noise reduction effect), Euro 2 (addition of rare earth compound) Euro 3 OBD (addition of platinum, palladium) Euro 4 (addition of platinum, palladium, rhodium) Euro 5 and other standards. You can choose different standards and quality according to your own car conditions.
The conventional dimensions of the honeycomb ceramic catalyst carrier are: Dia 80*80, Dia 93*80, Dia 93*100mm, Dia 100*100, Dia 101.6*100mm, Dia 103*100mm, Dia 106*100mm, Dia 110*100, Dia 118*100, Dia 130*100
