Do these have any kind of coating? I'm looking for something to make a discharge wand for a Van de Graaff generator and bare metal works best.
A1: These would work great for that. There is no coating. I am using them as toploads for my tesla coils. They are pefect and you can't see the seams unless you are holding them
Q2. Could I drill or punch a hole in them to mount on a stick or thin pole?
A2: I would use a drill, not punch a hole. By punching it would mire thsn likely end up denting the balls as they are hollow.
Q3: They’re listed as heavy duty stainless steel. They should not shatter if they were tossed like a ball on the floor right ? A3: They are not heavy. They feel like stainless steel. I haven’t tried to toss them on the floor so I don’t know if they would break or not. I put them outside as a decoration.
