Carbomer 940, a white fluffy powder;
There is a characteristic odor;
Hygroscopic strong, acrylic acid as monomer, acrylic sucrose ether or pentaerythritol allyl ether as a crosslinking agent, copolymerization of polymer, often exists in the form of acid in water, in water and polar organic solvents (such as ethanol, glycerol, etc.) easy to swelling.
It contains polyenyl polyether crosslinked acrylic polymer, containing 56% - 68% carboxylic acid groups in the molecule, so that these resins are weak acid, although weaker than acetic acid, but it is easy to react with inorganic base and organic base to generate salts.
Because of its swelling and weak acidity, it is a very important rheological regulator. After neutralization, Kapo resin is an excellent gel matrix, with important properties such as thickening and suspension. It has simple process and good stability, and is widely used in emulsions, creams and gels.
The addition amount in cosmetics is 0.1%~3.0%
Product Real Picture:
How do you make a clear gel ?
1. Direct use
Sift the carbom slowly into the rapidly stirred water until it is well dispersed. Stir constantly and pour the water phase into the oil phase. Neutralize with a suitable base (in some cases, neutralization is best after step 4).
Fast mixing reduces particle size, resulting in a glossy product.
Homogeneous methods can be used, but high shear speeds can make the emulsion unstable.
2. Indirect use
The polymer emulsifier is dispersed in the oil phase and continuously stirred until a smooth and uniform dispersion is formed. An appropriate amount of alkali as a neutralizer is added to the water. In strong stirring, the oil phase (including polymer) is added to the water phase and the white emulsion is continued to be stirred until the formation of white emulsion.
3.How to use carbomer 940 gel: 2% Carbomer 940GE Gel (50ML):
(1) Weave 1g of carbom 940GE dry powder into a dry beaker with a scale of 50ml. If there is any lumps, crush them with a spoon.
(2) Add 25ml pure water and stir while adding to make Kapom 940GE fully absorb water and dissolve.
This step is very important. It is necessary to fully absorb water from Kaporm 940GE. Generally, after mixing with water, Kaporm 940 can be fully dissolved after a few hours.
If you want to go faster, you can use a water bath to heat it, and it will be faster to stir while heating. Of course, even if heating can accelerate the water absorption and swelling process of Kapom 940GE, it will take 10 ~ 30 minutes.
(3). Drop lye with dropper, add while stirring, measure pH value, adjust pH 7, gel success!
(Use the included triethanolamine for lye)
(4), make up the surplus of water.
The total amount is about 50ML.
The prepared gel base agent can be directly used with other raw materials to prepare various gels. As long as the concentration of the kapo is controlled within 1%, it is recommended to be around 1%.
