ANNEALING vs HEAT TREATMENT
The definition of annealing is: "heat metal and allow it to cool slowly, in order to remove internal stresses and toughen or soften it." While we need to anneal permalloy 80 and other magnetic shielding alloys during the magnetic shield fabrication
process, we do not anneal for maximum magnetic permeability. As noted in the definition, the annealing step is done to relieve stress within the material that was introduced as a part was being formed or bent.When we are heat-treating our HyMu 80 magnetic shielding materials, we are actually changing the physical properties by enlarging the grain structure, allowing for more magnetic flux to be absorbed by the magnetic shield.
In conclusion, both annealing and heat-treating are necessary during the magnetic shield fabrication process, but both serve a very different purpose. If you need to relieve stress in material, soften or toughen it, you want to anneal it. If you are trying
to achieve maximum permeability, you want to heat treat the material.
It should also be noted that material in our kinds have been annealed for forming possible, but is not heat-treated for maximum magnetic permeability.

High Permeability shielding application HYMU 80
HYMU 80 is nickel with additions of iron and molybdenum as main elements in turn this alloy offers an extremely high initial permeability. It is only moderately resistant to moisture and atmospheric corrosion, it used mainly in in transformer cores but is well known for its magnetic properties which are used for shielding electrical components from magnetic fields.

magnetic final annealing
The maximum magnetic properties of HyMu 80 are best achieved by annealing for 5 hours at 1140 ℃ to 1150 ℃ in a pure dry hydrogen atmosphere (-40 ℃ dew point). Cooling in the blow 1150 ℃ to 600℃ range at 150℃ per hour ,and 600℃ to 300℃ ≥400℃ per hour is recommended. In order to retain the maximum properties this anneal should be done after all manufacturing of the part is completed.
