I primarily use the shovel for digging fire pits at the beach. Since I'm only using it on sand, I can't say how it'll fare for digging dirt holes. For what I need it for, it does a great job. The build quality of the canvas bag that it comes in is questionable though. The belt loop already came off after a few uses. However, that doesn't affect the quality of the shovel at all.

I would recommend this product for light use.

We're getting ready for our camping next month so I decided to get a mini shovel. It's made of solid tempered steel, fire resistant ABS engineering plastic, it's durable and firm. It's 18 1/4" long when it's unfolded and 7 1/2" when folded and weighs 23.0 oz. Not bad to carry as long as you have a vehicle. It's a multi-functional shovel that you can use as a mining form and dig/pry, use it for snow, sand, soil or any outdoor activities that needs shoveling or you can also use it to saw. It's foldable, easy to use and it has a case for easy storage. There's a locking system just on top of the shovel so make sure to tighten that part so that the handle is on a steady position. The size of the shovel is 6 1/8" long x 4 1/2" wide, perfect size for me. My husband has a bigger shovel but it's a bit heavy for me so I wanted to have my own. Easier for me to do what I want with the mini shovel. Now I'm a happy camper!!! Thumbs Up!

Only real complaint is that the bag for the shovel is insanely weak. I was able to tear the belt cord right off the bag with minimal effort. That being said, I plan on purchasing a MOLLE drop bag for the shovel.

The camping shovel has many uses.You can take the serrated edge and chop up small pieces of wood. It has a pick axe feature that's nice when you need an axe. I definitely recommend this as a part of your camping gear.
