Product Description

Turgo Turbine

Turgo turbine is one of impulse turbine, applicable water head 30 to 300 meter. The center of jet flow with runner gyration plane angled 22.5°. the water flow contracted by the spray nozzle , flows entering one side of runner and comes out from other side.
Horizontal unit has the advantages of simple structure,convenient repair,reduce the plant height,advantages in reducing excavation depth.
The vertical unit with plant plane size small,a runner can be provided with a plurality of nozzles,(at most can be installed six nozzles),high specific speed,the same size as units of capacity is relatively small,light weight and so on.

Working Principle

When water flows from the pressure foray into the turbine nozzle through pipe, its potential energy is converted to kinetic energy by the nozzle. The high speed water jet comes out from the nozzle strikes at the buckets (blades) at a certain angle (not in a tangential direction) against the rotating surface of the runner. The water flows into the propeller (turbine runner) from one side and flows out from other side.

In a Turgo, the runner is less expensive to make than a Pelton Wheel and does not need an airtight housing like the Francis. It also has a higher specific speed, handling a greater flow than the Pelton Wheel. This leads to a reduced generator and installation cost. Turgos operate in a head range where the Francis and Pelton overlap.
