SD-Series Rotary Slips
SDS, SDML, SDXL, and SDHL Ratary Slips
Description:
SDS, SDML, SDXL and SDHL Rotary Slips are for use in API standard insert bowls. Featuring better contact and distribution of load on drill pipe thru a superior wraparound configuration and unique insert design, these slips prevent bottlenecking and gouging damage. The buttress design of the body segments provides great strength while minimizing weight for ease of handling.
National Oilwell Varco's Rotary Hand Slips have gone through two product enhancements. For increased safety on the rig floor, "Flex-Handles" are now used on all rotary hand slips. Load rings* have been added to the SDHL for handling heavy strings of drill pipe.

Flex-Handles:
Available for all NOV Rotary Hand Slips: SDS, SDML, SDXL and SDHL
May be assembled on Rotary Hand Slips without any modification
Center handle may also be used on DCS drill collar and CMS-XL casing slips
Protection horn on top of the handle improves safety for rig hands should the elevator be lowered too much
Elastomer section allows the handle to bend; handle will recover to its original shape Reduces likelihood of bent and broken handles
Load Rings*:
Available on SDHL rotary hand slip
SDHL rated to 750 tons (680.4 M Tons)
Proof load tested to rated capacity
Uses standard inserts, available worldwide
