Steeping Tank for Malting Barley
1. Purpose:
1) Wash Barley
2) Increase the barley water content to make it germination.
2. Time: 36-40h (Summer and Winter time different)
3. Steeping Temperature : 14-18 ℃
4. Classification : Wet Steeping and Dry Steeping
1) Wet Steeping
Purpose: Compressed air take out the dirty things from bottom of the tank to the drain mouth, then take away the dirty things in the barley. At the same time Air Blast to provide O2 (wash barley and provide O2).
2) Dry Steeping
Purpose: After drain the water, left barley, through the layers of barley provide O2 and take away Co2. ( Note: when dry steeping will also moisturizing )

6. How does the water tank keep temperature? If 2t drum system, we provide a water tank, it has an Electric heater inside.
Finally, the barley water content increase to 43%-48% from the beginning 12%.
