Why PI film Heaters
The etched foil element has superior heat transfer and exceptionally uniform heat output, which results in a faster warm-up cycle and longer life. Use this polyester heating element to cover large areas with even heat, for flat or gently curved surfaces. Due to the resistance limits of the foil materials, as circuits become larger the economics of foil versus resistance wire become less attractive. Our designers use a custom computer-aided design program to calculate the design, given the voltage, wattage and resistance.

Connecting leads
Standard leads are Teflon insulated. Normal gauge sizes range from 24 to 28 .
For critical applications, such as high moisture conditions, Heaters can be furnished with insulated leads.
Sensors
TY heaters and thermistors or RTD’s make an excellent combination. These sensors can be mounted on the surface of the heater, and independent circuitry within the heater can be used to return the signal to the lead exit area, maintaining a desirable low-profile.
Thermocouple
We can incorporate common type K or J thermocouples almost anywhere on the heater surface.
RTD
The RTD’s resistance increases with a rise in temperature and is considered the most accurate and stable sensor.
Thermistor
The thermistor’s response is generally designed directly into the customer’s electronic control system. Therefore if a thermistor is required, please consult us.
