Calibration tank, also known as dump tank or measuring tank,is used for metering crude oil after separation and calibrating metering devices like flow gauges on the separator oil lines in a testing system.It is a nonpressurized vessel, and can also be used for temporarily storing the oil.Since the measuring tank is attached a crude-oil transfer pump, it is convenient to load and transport oil and water.
