Coconut Shell Activated Carbon
Coconut shell activated carbon has high hardness and is more wear-resistant than any other types of activated carbon. It is a completely natural and environmentally friendly product. As most of its pore structure is composed of micropores, coconut shell charcoal can effectively absorb impurities with a microporous molecular structure. Futhermore, due to its high wear resistance and excellent chemical and physical properties, only coconut shell activated carbon can support applications such as the recovery of precious metals such as gold.
Activated carbon, also called activated charcoal, is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions. Due to its high degree of microporosity, one gram of activated carbon has a surface area in excess of 3,000 m2 (32,000 sq ft)as determined by gas adsorption. An activation level sufficient for useful application may be obtained solely from high surface area. Further chemical treatment often enhances adsorption properties. Activated carbon is usually derived from charcoal, coconut shell, husk, etc. It can be made into various shapes: honeycomb cubes, columnar, granular and powder. The sizes can be crushed and shaped according to customer's requirements.
