Introduction
Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) is one of the most important crystalline materials for electro-optical, nonlinear optics and integrated optics. The biggest problem in optical applications is prone to photorefractive. and causes optical wavefront distortion, which limits its application at high laser power.

The biggest disadvantage of pure Lithium Niobate crystal is that it has a low Anti laser damage threshold. and limits its application area. When doped with 5 mol% of MgO, we get the MgO:LiNbO3 crystal that its Anti laser damage threshold is increased by 1~2 order of magnitude than pure LiNbO3 crystal. meanwhile, the polarization reversal voltage is reduced from 21KV/mm to 6KV/mm, the ultraviolet absorption edge shifts to 310mm, and OH- absorption peak red shifts to 3535cm-1, These changes have greatly expanded the range of applications of LN crystals.
