Acrylic overlays:
Acrylic overlays are the least commonly used material for graphic overlays, but they’re another type of plastic overlay that can be utilized. Acrylic overlays gain popularity because they are clear and lightweight. It is also more transparent than typical glass and is nearly 50% lighter. If your main priority of an overlay is to diffuse or transmit light, then an acrylic overlay would be the best option for you. Acrylic overlays are strong and do not bend easily, which can help provide stiffness and make your display durable.
CNC Cutting Silk-Screen Printing Plastic Acrylic Overlay
TianTai is good at silkscreen printing for acrylic panels. Acrylic has a smooth and flat surface, making it ideal for printing. Print the ink directly onto the acrylic through the screen, and after drying, it will show beautiful colors. What about cutting? Let laser cutting machine do the job. Due to its hardness and brittleness, conventional die cutting is not a good choice. We use laser beam to burn out the desired shape, which ensures good cutting precision and smooth edges.
Graphic Overlay Material Selection
The proper selection of a graphic material is critical in order to ensure that you will attain both the appropriate aesthetic qualities of the part as well as maximize the longevity of the final product.Polycarbonate comes in thicknesses of .005″-.030″ thick, while polyester comes in thicknesses of .005″-.010″. Each can be purchased in the following finishes: gloss, mattes (various levels), and textures.Though the materials look very much the same, polyester possesses greater resistance to chemicals than does polycarbonate. Also, polyester has much greater resistance to fatigue in applications requiring the graphic overlay material to be flexed. Both polycarbonate and polyester are available with UV inhibitors for demanding outdoor applications.
