Insulating glass (IGU), also known as double glazing, is a high-performance acoustic glass made of two (or more) pieces of glass and an aluminum alloy frame containing a desiccant bonded by a high-strength, high-airtight composite adhesive.
Component of Insulated Glass
Glass:
With individual glass thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 12mm, Sun Global Glass utilizes top quality float glass processing.
Spacer Strips:
Insulating glass utilizes air or argon gas spacers to separate the edges of the glass panes where they meet. These spacers usually contain some sort of desiccant that absorbs moisture between the panes and prevents fogging.
Glazing Sealant:
Insulating glass requires two seals, the first of which is usually a butyl adhesive. For the second seal, Sun Global Glass uses a high quality structural silicone sealant to seal the exterior glass and a silicone sealant to seal the window glass.
Molecular Sieves:
Molecular sieves are used to absorb moisture from the air in the argon/air compartment. The molecular sieves should not be exposed to air for more than 4 hours, if more than 4 hours, the molecular sieves will absorb moisture from the air and the glass will fog up. Therefore, Sun Global Glass should complete production within 4 hours to avoid fogging.
