General purpose AC motors, also known as induction motors, are electric motors that convert AC power into torque (where torque is the measure of a rotational or twisting force) to drive mechanical loads. They are suitable for powering pumps, blowers, conveyors, and machine tools. Split-phase NEMA frame general purpose AC motors are lower efficiency and have a lower starting torque for a softer startup compared to other AC motors. Capacitor-start NEMA frame general purpose AC motors use a capacitor to provide additional power during startup for higher torque. Capacitor-start/run NEMA frame general purpose AC motors are single-phase motors that use a capacitor to provide additional power during startup for higher torque and a separate capacitor to run with higher operating efficiency. Three phase NEMA frame general purpose AC motors and three phase IEC metric motors operate on efficient three phase power with high torque and don’t require start or run capacitors.

General purpose single phase TEFC capacitor stanrt and run
Motors have NEMA frame construction with standard dimensions for drop-in replacement of motors from multiple suppliers with no modifications required to existing installations. Models may have two capacitor covers on the top or side of the motor shell for the start and run capacitors and may also have a conduit box that houses the electrical connections between the external power cables and the motor's internal electrical wiring. The motor's frame size is shown on the motor nameplate under “Frame” or “FR”.

Capacitor-start & run NEMA frame general purpose AC motors are single-phase and use a capacitor to provide additional power during startup for higher torque and a separate capacitor to run with higher operating efficiency compared to standard capacitor-start motors
ODP enclosure protects against falling drops of liquid entering the motor from angles of up to 15 degrees from the vertical. A shaft-mounted fan pulls air directly from the environment through open vents in the motor's body, circulating it around the inside of the motor and over the stator and rotor windings for cooling.
TEFC enclosures are very common in industrial environments, They are more expensive than ODP enclosures but provide a much higher level of protection, and when properly maintained, ensure that the motor remains in peak condition for a long time.
Application
They have a main winding and auxiliary winding with both a start capacitor and run capacitor for use in medium-to-high-torque requirements in air conditioner, auger drive, compressor, conveyor, fan, and pump applications.
