Our transparent cylinder glass jar is made of p
yrex borosilicate material.
All our candle vases are made of hard borosilicate glass. To produce candle vases, a flameworker first heats the glass tubes with a torch until they become soft and pliable. Flameworkers use a variety of tools to make their work: tweezers, paddles, mashers, and most importantly their breathe, to shape and mold the glass vases. Once the vase is completed, it is placed in a kiln to anneal and eventually cool down. Depending on the size and complexity of the vase, this process can take anywhere from a few hours to several days. The flameworked candle vases are more transparent then common glass vases, weigh much less and stronger. Besides, they are cheaper. When you purchase our candle vases, you not only pay flameworkers to support their families, but also help to protect an intangible cultural heritage.
