Finish Clear (16/Red, 17/Blue, 18/Yellow, 30/White, 29/Black)

This is an innovative colored topcoat that can be applied directly on top of plating-look paint without compromising its erosion resistance to limit blurring of the delicate paint from the PLATING-LOOK series. You can enjoy coming up with many different colors by blending different topcoats from the Finish Clear Color series. ★Refer to the coating flowchart and how-to video for more on applying plating-look paint. *We recommend Concentrated Color Clear topcoats from the Clear series for application on lacquer paints that do not have a plating look.

We do not recommend coating over topcoats from the Low Erosion series, since they have low resistance to solvents. Apply the topcoat after the PLATING-LOOK series paint has completely dried. The coating may come off when rubbed vigorously. Use Finish Clear Strengthening Agent to make the coat tougher. Be sure to use the Exclusive Thinner Liquid to dilute the topcoat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply Finish Clear Color directly on top of plating-look paint?

Yes, you can. Finish Clear Color was designed to be a colored version of Finish Clear so that you can apply it directly on top of the PLATING-LOOK series.

When I applied Finish Clear, the plating look became blurry.

Try applying another coat of Finish Clear on top before it dries.

Although Finish Clear blurs after the first application, the plating look may come back when applying subsequent coats on top.

When I applied Finish Clear, the plating look has darkened.

There is a chance that you did not apply enough of the PLATING-LOOK series paint.

You may see improvement when applying multiple coats on top, even after the color of the PLATING-LOOK series paint has developed.

The surface became rough after I applied Finish Clear Color.

There is a chance that Finish Clear Color was not diluted enough.

Try adding thinner, using the approximate dilution ratios as reference.

You may see improvement if you dilute it to the point where it is not powdery while sandblasting.

Can I apply another coat of Hypersolid series on top of Finish Clear Color to recover the situation?

No, you cannot. Since it is a low erosion paint, cracks and other blemishes may appear if you paint over it.

You will need to remove all of the paint using a paint remover and restart the coat application process from scratch after the parts have dried completely.

Can I dilute it with a common thinner?

No, you cannot. By diluting with a thinner other than Finish Clear Exclusive Thinning Liquid or Low Erosion Clear Exclusive Thinning Liquid, the erosion resistance property will be lost, and there will be erosion of the plating-look paint below.
