Electric Water Descaler( electromagnetic water softener/descaler)
Calcium and in some areas magnesium are absorbed into water. Some areas are particularly vulnerable to absorbing these ground minerals and the result is “Hard Water”.
It causes severe problems over time as the build up of calcium scale blocks filters, tarnishes basins and shower-heads and taps. It becomes very difficult to clean it can seriously increase maintenance and energy costs. Reports show that for each 1mm of furred up plumbing, energy costs increase by 7%. Scale build up in washing machines, dishwashers and kettles can totally ruin appliances.
Hard water prevents soaps from being effective, reducing lather and impeding their cleaning function. Calcium in water and the reduced effectiveness of soaps can be detrimental to skin, even aggravating some dry skin conditions.
The Electric descaler answers the problems by emitting an oscillating current which disrupts the ionic bonding charge of calcium ions and also creating a magno-electronic field which greatly reduces the molecular bonding function. An electromagnetic water softener , also known as electromagnetic water conditioner or descaling device, reduces scaling caused by hard water. It generates electromagnetic fields that alter the property of dissolved minerals present in hard water.
Hard water is undesirable for use in day-to-day household activities. It contains excess dissolved minerals that impart the hardness. The more the amount of minerals, the higher is the hardness scale or grains. If this type of water is used for cleaning, it usually leaves water spots and marks after drying. It can be softened by using traditional methods like boiling and adding salts, but these are only temporary techniques. Further, boiling or adding external substances may impart a peculiar taste and odor to the water.
How does a water conditioner prevent scale build up?
Calcium carbonate commonly occurs in two different crystal structures, calcite and aragonite. Although calcite and aragonite have the same chemical composition, their crystal structures are completely different:
The trigonal structure of calcite crystals has a high level of aggregation and adhesion (see below), causing rapid calcareous scale build-up within pipes and connected equipment.
The orthorhombic structure of aragonite crystals has a low level of aggregation and adhesion, preventing calcareous scale build-up. Extensive testing has conclusively proved that the innovative distribution of the electromagnetic forces within the Dutypoint EC unit ensures that the calcium carbonate in the water downstream of the unit forms only as aragonite (see below). Therefore, although the chemical composition of the water is not changed, the aragonite crystals generated have a low level of aggregation and adhesion preventing calcareous scale build-up. The unit is WRAS-approved, demonstrating that potable water upstream remains free from contamination downstream.
How is an electromagnetic water conditioner different from a water softener?
Electromagnetic water conditioners, which are also known as a type of physical water conditioner, are becoming the preferred option in the majority of installations over water softeners because they do not alter the chemical composition of the water, or introduce any chemicals into the water. As a result, there is no requirement for a separate 'softened' water supply - if drinking water is passed through a Dutypoint EC it retains its quality downstream of the unit.
