Hot rolled, heat treated, pickled. The most common hot rolled finish. A non reflective, rough surface. Not normally used for decorative applications |

Cold rolled, heat treated, pickled, pinch passed. The most common cold rolled mill finish. Dull grey slightly reflective finish. Can be used in this condition or frequently is the starting point for a wide range of polished finishes. |

B-3-1. Production process and quality control
The process of steelmaking has undergone many changes in the 20th century based on the political, social and technological atmosphere.
In the 1950s and 1960s, demand for high quality steel encouraged the steelmaking industry to produce large quantities.
Large, integrated steel mills with high capital costs and limited flexibility were built in the U.S. (Chatterjee, 1995).
Integrated steel plants produce steel by refining iron ore in several steps and produce very high quality steel with well controlled chemical compositions to meet all product quality requirements.
Our company.`s quality control program meets and exceeds the requirements set forth by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and the NBIC (National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors). SFI has been recognized and authorized by the ASME since 1988 to apply the "U" Stamp and by the NBIC since 1993 to apply the "R" Stamp.

Inspection & Testing
In-house checks and inspections are performed by QC staff, production supervisors, and leadmen.

Water Fill Testing
Hydrostatic testing services as required.
Liquid Penetrant Testing
SFI has certified liquid penetrant procedures (color contrast and fluorescent) meeting the requirements of the ASME.
Liquid penetrant examiners are certified on these procedures to meet the same.
In-House Radiography
SFI provides its own non-destructive testing services (radiography) in-house with three Level 2 certified x-ray technicians on staff.
