Product Usage
High-grade dried bonito is said to be the stiffest food in the entire world. The bonito (skipjack tuna) is boiled live first before it's smoked, and then from there it's repeatedly dried out in the sun over alternating sessions. This high-grade dried bonito is made using traditional techniques that have been passed down over generations, and its dryness has a distinct sound that rings out just by hitting it.
These dried bonito flakes work perfectly as a topping for okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), yakisoba (fried noodles), and cold tofu dishes. Can be used for a bonito-flavored soy sauce dressing that goes with "Spinach Ohitashi," a type of side dish featuring boiled greens.
