Pickleball Paddle uses sourced from DuPont™ Kevlar® as its face material. The face material has a unique combination of high strength, high modulus, toughness and thermal stability. It has high impact resistance and is durable (abrasion resistant), meaning the paddle surface should last a long time and be more resistant to wear compared to existing carbon faced paddles**. Hot Press Molding Machine
Three plies of unidirectional carbon fiber prepregs, along with the peel ply, are placed into a hot press molding machine .The upper mold is aligned with the lower mold symmetrically and the mold halves are closed. Pressure is applied using hydraulic presses while the mold is cured at high temperature for a certain amount of time. While curing, the epoxy resin is configured to flow and fully disperse and impregnate the matrix of carbon fibers. After the cooling cycle, the carbon fiber reinforced composite facesheet is removed from the mold.
How To Comparison Between Cold Cut PP and Thermoformed PP?
The thermoformed PP honeycomb core material looks very flat and smooth to the naked eye, but at the microscopic level, there are inevitable changes in the thickness of the core material. This results in air spaces between the panels and the PP honeycomb core. Additionally, carbon seamed foam edges around the paddle create a fully enclosed one-piece structure. With the use of high temperature and high pressure, the air in the defects of the PP honeycomb core will expand and generate strong internal pressure. Therefore, parts of the PP honeycomb core may be crushed. After a certain amount of hitting the ball, the constant force of the ball hitting the racket causes more areas of the core to be crushed (compare image above). The increased power that players experience when using this racket can be explained by these inadvertently created pockets. Instead of the racket making contact with a solid racket surface, the pockets crushing the core racket create a trampoline effect.
