Installation and Operation 1) Installation Installation consists of splicing the service fiber cable to the transportation fiber, installing the housing and electronics on the messenger strand, applying power, and placing the unit in service. It is recommended that the equipment has been correctly configured, and tested on the bench. Splicing Fiber The service cable can be spliced to the transportation cable at any time during the node installation. Splicing does not need to coincide with the installation of the housing. Fusion splicing is recommended because it has low insertion loss and is the most reliable method. The splicing should be done by a technician experienced in splicing fiber. Warning! To avoid possible injury to personnel or damage to the equipment, remove 60/220Vac power from the system before you install the node. 2) Operation Test output level using a signal level meter: -For 0dBm input, tap output: The receiver output (output1) is above 98dBuV; output2 is 12dB less than output1. -For splitter output, output1 & output2 are both above 94dBu. Troubleshooting Only the following steps are allowed for users to solve simple failure. If the fault remains, please contact our company or the supplier. Do not repair the equipment or open the case privately by yourself.
