Styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS)
S represents styrene and B represents butadiene. The two ends of the polymer are styrene polymer segments and the middle is a butadiene polymer segment, forming an ABA-type triblock copolymer. SBS rubber usually refers to SBS that has been hydrogenated. Through hydrogenation, the double bonds in the polybutadiene block are eliminated, giving SBS rubber good antioxidant capabilities.
SBS can be in contact with water, weak acids, alkalis, etc. It has excellent tensile strength, large surface friction coefficient, good low temperature performance, excellent electrical properties, and good processing performance. It has become the most consumed thermoplastic elastomer at present.
