Products Description
Blowout preventers (BOP) are the most important well control devices and play an important role in drilling, especially in underbalanced drilling. The purpose of designing a blowout preventer is to close the wellbore under pressure, maintain continuous control of the well, and circulate the formation fluid entering the well.
Hydraulic BOP mainly come in two forms: RAM BOP and ANNULAR BOP .
The types of annular BOP can be divided into conical annular BOP and spherical annular BOP according to the shape of their sealant cores. Their structure mainly consists of four major components: shell, top cover, rubber core, and piston. When there are drilling tools, tubing, or casing in the well, the annular blowout preventer can use a rubber core to seal various annular spaces of different sizes. When there are no drilling tools in the well, it can fully seal the wellhead during drilling, coring, logging, and other operations. It can also seal the annular space formed by the square drill pipe, coring tools, electric cables, and steel wires with the wellbore. When using a pressure reducing and regulating valve, the drilling tool can be forcibly lifted and lowered through the drill pipe.
Two types of annular BOP have similar working principles. When a kick is discovered and a well needs to be sealed, high-pressure oil from the control system enters the lower closed chamber of the piston from the lower oil port, pushing the piston upward. The spherical rubber core moves upward along the ball face, while the conical rubber core moves closer to the center under the restriction of the top cover and the compression of the inner cone surface of the piston, tightening and embracing the drilling tool, achieving the sealing of the drilling tool or the full sealing of the wellhead when the well is opened, the rubber core is reset under its own elastic force to open the wellhead.
