RO(reverse osmosis) system working principle
Reverse osmosis is a membrane separation technology that can be driven by pressure by means of the working force of a selective permeable (semi-permeable) membrane.

When the pressure added to the system is greater than the osmotic pressure of the influent solution, water molecules continuously permeate after passing through the membrane, it flows into the central tube through the permeate flow channel, and then the impurities in the water, such as ions, organics, bacteria, viruses, etc., flow out at one end, are trapped at the inlet side of the membrane, and then flow out at the outlet end of the concentrated water to achieve separation and purification purpose. The reverse osmosis equipment is to pass the raw water through a fine filter, a quartz sand filter, a compressed activated carbon filter, etc., and then pressurize it through a pump, using a pore size of 1/10000 μm ,reverse osmosis membrane (RO membrane), which makes high-concentration water into low-concentration water, and at the same time isolates industrial pollutants, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses and other impurities mixed into the water, and produces pure water.

What are the requirements of reverse osmosis pure water equipment on inlet water source?

As a new type of pure physical desalting process, reverse osmosis pure water equipment is widely used in the process of pure water preparation. Due to the restrictions of the structure, material, desalting mechanism and other conditions of the reverse osmosis membrane element in the reverse osmosis pure water equipment, the reverse osmosis pure water equipment has high requirements on the inlet water quality. The inlet water quality of the reverse osmosis membrane element must meet the inlet water standard; otherwise, the membrane element will be damaged and the normal operation of the equipment will be affected.
The reverse osmosis pure water equipment must meet the following requirements:
The temperature conditions are between 1 and 45℃.
The pH must be in the range of 2 to 11. Organic content (COD, mg/L) should be less than 1.5. Turbidity (NTU) should be controlled below 1.0. Silt density index (SDI value) 4.0. Residual chlorine content <0.1mg/L (actually controlled at 0). Iron content (mg/L) : when dissolved oxygen <5mg/L, Fe<0.05. Silica content (mg/L) : SiO2<100 in concentrated water Sr, Ba and other easy to form insoluble salt ions: Ipb<0.8Ksp. The last three can be appropriately increased by adding scale inhibitor.

If one or more of the above indicators do not meet the standard, the reverse osmosis membrane element will have the following effects: 1, reverse osmosis membrane element will be contaminated by metal oxides. 2, reverse osmosis membrane element will be colloidal pollution. 3, reverse osmosis membrane element will appear scaling phenomenon. 4. Reverse osmosis membrane element is polluted and blocked by some suspended matter, resulting in a decrease in water flux. 5. The reverse osmosis membrane element is polluted by organic matter and microorganism, which leads to the increase of effluent COD. During the use of reverse osmosis pure water equipment, it is necessary to monitor the inlet water quality to avoid the damage caused by unqualified inlet water quality to the core components of the equipment, which will seriously lead to the normal operation of the equipment, the decline of the water quality, and cause certain economic losses to the enterprise.
