<Shiitake mushroom strains for cultivation> 〇Hokken’s mushroom culturing spawn The fungal threads used for cultivation are prepared as sawdust spawn by spreading fungal threads on sawdust that has been disinfected. Each lot of sawdust spawn produced by Hokken undergoes cultivation testing, and only lots with stable quality are shipped. Special techniques are necessary to stabilize cultivation, since fungal threads vary each time they proliferate.

〇Hokken is an expert on fungi that has devoted itself to mushrooms for 60 years! Since being founded in 1961, Hokken has grown together with Japanese mushroom growers for roughly 60 years, with sales of mushroom spawn and equipment for cultivation serving as our main business. Between the 1960s and 1980s, we were known as “Hokken for nameko mushrooms,” as Japanese nameko mushroom growers regularly used our cultivation spawn and equipment, but since the 1990s, sales of cultivation spawn and equipment for shiitake mushroom growers has been our main business. We provide comprehensive consultation for the cultivation of shiitake mushrooms in beds, and our services include planning cultivation factories, instructing cultivation, and selling shiitake mushrooms, which are the final product. 〇Stable fungal threads (strains) are necessary to produce mushrooms! In order to produce mushrooms, fungal threads (strains) with stable characteristics that allow the producers to make calculated plans are necessary. A stable business cannot be formed if the shapes, yield, and quality are different each time. Hokken has a variety of fungal threads (strains) that demonstrates their qualities in a wide range of cultivation environments. If you discuss your desired mushroom quality and cultivation environment with us, we will provide the fungal threads (strains) that will maximize your profit. 〇Providing mushroom culturing spawn overseas There are restrictions on exporting mushroom spawn from Japan. However, we can provide our company’s fungal threads (strains) on a Petri dish and provide guidance on producing mushroom culturing span at a local factory.

<Shiitake mushroom strains for cultivation> Hokken’s shiitake mushroom spawn is used for roughly 50% of the shiitake mushrooms produced in Japan, representing the highest market share in Japan. Hokken’s strengths lie in utilizing technologies to cultivate mushrooms in beds as a foundation to develop excellent strains and apply techniques to stabilize strain performance. For example, the revolutionary shiitake mushroom strain for bed cultivation called Hokken 600, which was registered in Japan in 1988, has maintained stable performance for over 30 years through Hokken’s technologies and is still used by numerous growers to this day. We own a variety of strains that satisfy our customers’ needs, such as strains that produce extra large shiitake mushrooms, strains that can still grow in hot temperatures of around 30℃ in the middle of the summer, and strains for mass production that produce large amounts of medium-sized shiitake mushrooms that have strong demand. In addition, we have strains for large-scale air-conditioned cultivation, in which temperature and humidity are completely controlled by an air-conditioner, strains for natural cultivation that can be grown using the natural environment and do not require investment in facilities, and various other strains that demonstrate their qualities in a wide range of environments. They can be used by those with experience in shiitake mushroom cultivation and people who are getting started from scratch. The prices are per growing bed (weight of 3kg). <Introduction of shiitake mushroom strains> ・Strain CA901 A yield of over 1kg (with a 3kg bed) can be expected in a short cultivation period of roughly 80 to 100 days at 20℃. This is the newest strain with high yield of medium-sized mushrooms with a hard texture.
・Strain CA902 Shiitake mushrooms will grow after cultivation of 90 to 110 days at 20℃. A yield of over 1kg (with a 3kg bed) can be expected in about 3 months. This is the newest strain with high yield of large mushrooms with a hard texture.
・Strain HS788 Shiitake mushrooms will grow after cultivation of 110 to 130 days at 20℃. Although the cultivation period is long, a yield of over 1.2kg (with a 3kg bed) can be expected. This is the newest strain with high yield of large mushrooms with a hard texture.
・Strain HS715 Shiitake mushrooms will grow after cultivation of 110 to 120 days at 20℃. A yield of over 900g (with a 3kg bed) can be expected in about 3 months. This is the newest strain with high yield of extra large mushrooms with a hard texture.
・Strain HS73 Shiitake mushrooms will grow after cultivation of 75 to 90 days at 20℃. A yield of over 1kg (with a 3kg bed) can be expected in about 3 months. This is the newest strain with high yield of medium-sized mushrooms with a medium texture. This is an energy-saving strain that can be grown in environments of over 30℃ during the day without air conditioning.
