755nm alexandrite laser is currently recognized as the ideal hair removal laser (suitable for Fitzpatrick 1-5 skin types); it can be used for hair removal in any area, including armpits, bikini line, face, neck, back, chest and legs; Most reports indicate that alexandrite is effective in hair removal for skin types I to IV. With lighter hair, alexandrite is preferred over the Nd:YAG system, and it is generally found to be less painful than Nd:YAG.

755nm Alexandrite laser is highly absorbed by melanin, it is able to treat pigment as well as unwanted hair on Fitzpatrick Skin types I-IV. The 1064nm Nd:YAG laser is less absorbed by melanin and can be effective for hair removal on all skin types, especially darker skin.

1064 nm devices, may not provide effective treatment for lighter hair. The 755 nm alexandrite wavelength can treat a full range of hair colors but is not ideal for darker skin.
